Livi Hester
Dancer
Olivia has been dancing her entire life, always moved by music before she could fully understand it. Contemporary dance, especially African contemporary, modern, ballet, and jazz, called to her early and shaped her artistic foundation. Olivia began studio training around the age of thirteen or fourteen and trained professionally for over a year, dancing with multiple teams as she continued to grow as an artist.
Finding UZIMA! felt like coming home. The connection to African-rooted movement, community, and storytelling aligned deeply with Olivia’s spirit. Through UZIMA!, she is able to move with purpose, ancestry, and intention rather than technique alone.
Outside of dance, Olivia is an aspiring scientist currently studying Medical Laboratory Technology at Ivy Tech Community College, with plans to continue her education in biology at a four year university. Olivia finds dance and science are deeply connected through their shared focus on the body, discipline, and transformation.
She is honored to be a part of UZIMA! and will always carry this movement with her.
