Dé Bryant, Ph.D.
Founder and Director of Social Action Project
The arts are Dé’s lifelong passion, not only because she loves a good story, herself, but also (more importantly) because our stories remind us that we exist in relationship with one another. Every creative work offers opportunities to experience that lesson and all its complexities more clearly. Dé’s performance landscape incorporates activism (The Wickedest Woman in New York, by Clifford Browder); dance (Sisters of the Nile, troupe member [2007-2020]; Jubilee, performed with UZIMA! Drum and Dance [2024, 2025]), published spoken word anthologies (Word Play I [2017] and II [2019]; Poetry Den Collection, expected in 2026, This Old House, expected in 2026); and scholarship (Spirituality & Freedom: August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean, developed for Civic Theatre).
